A short story in the Lone Pine series.

Penny is the main participant in this interesting short story.
It starts with the arrival of an attractive girl at the Gay Dolphin Hotel one summer's day wearing a light flowery hat.

It is the hat which catches Penny's eye, and her disgraceful purloining of the item leads her into a great deal more trouble than she expects.
